By 2030, Leo Express plans to gain a significant market share in passenger rail operations in the Czech Republic and launch further projects in neighbouring countries. With trains and buses, the company transported almost 1.5 million passengers in 2022. This year, the company will focus mainly on the launch of the Bratislava - Komárno line and a new corporate program for corporate clients.
"Leo Express is planning further development in the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries, investing more than 4 million EUR this year alone. We are also creating new job opportunities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. At the same time, last year our consolidated turnover exceeded 22 million EUR. This is an increase of 15% compared to 2021. Revenue growth shows that customers value Leo Express for its services, which are among the best in long-distance transport in Central Europe, especially in the higher classes. Leo Express also leads the statistics for punctuality and safety among carriers, while offering top-quality catering with delivery to your seat" says spokesperson of Leo Express Emil Sedlařík.
In 2022, Leo Express carried almost 1.5 million passengers not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine. Of these, 938,000 were on commercial routes between Prague and Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště or Ostrava, as well as to Slovakia and Poland. Over half a million people used regional connections in the region of Orlicko. A total of 5,444 trains were operated. They covered 2.3 million kilometers on the rails. The company transported 19,000 passengers on bus lines to and from Ukraine.
We invest in development and focus on Slovakia
Leo Express plans to invest approximately 4 million EUR from its capital reserves in new projects and further development this year. The main focus will be the launch of a new train line between Bratislava and Komárno. On this line, the company will operate trains similar to those that passengers can already try out in the public service transport in the region of Orlicko. As part of the preparations, Leo Express is now looking for new employees to ensure operations. In addition to engine drivers, these include senior mechanics, electricians and a head of maintenance. At the same time, talks are being held with potential service providers.
Slovakia already contributes significantly to the number of passengers transported. Last year, Leo Express tansported a total of 142,000 passengers and dispatched 1,100 connections in Slovakia. These travelled a total of 356,000 kilometres.
Corporate program and wheelchair-accessibility improvements
Leo Express has introduced new rewards as part of its Corporate Program, which allows companies to purchase on invoice at discounted rates. The new corporate customer receives a 5% discount off the invoice price upon registration and can earn discounts of up to 10% depending on the previous 365 days' spend. With the new features, businesses can view the current discount and annual spend in their account, download monthly statements and change their billing email, set up administrators for invoice payments, or view a list of assigned cumulative codes with balances and expiration dates. All of these features are available not only on the website, but also in the mobile app. Leo Express also offers a Corporate Family Program, which allows companies to offer their employees the benefit of double cashback of up to 20% on their personal travel. Participation in the corporate programs is free and registration is done online via a form on the website or app.
Leo Express has also announced a change in the booking process for wheelchair transportation that will make traveling even easier. This means that such passengers will no longer have to notify the carrier of their trip by e-mail, as was previously the case. After purchasing a ticket, the traffic controller will automatically arrange everything necessary for the safe boarding and getting off of a passenger with an orthopedic wheelchair and will confirm the transport arrangements to the customer by e-mail no later than 24 hours before the departure of the selected connection. Leo Express is the first company to abolish this obligation on mainline trains.
