New Timetable from Sunday
More connections to Poland and the Czech Republic, faster to Slovakia, still from €4.1 and with 10% lower prices for refreshments
Prague, December 11, 2024 - In the new timetable, valid from Sunday, December 15, the number of train connections to Krakow will be increased to 5 times a week, on Fridays and Sundays even twice a day, and the connections between Prague and Košice will be accelerated by half an hour. The carrier will also add one pair of connections between Prague and Ostrava. Ticket prices on the Prague-Ostrava route will start at €4.1. Passengers will also find a new on-board menu adapted to the winter months.
"Despite inflationary pressures, we are not increasing the price of tickets between Prague and Ostrava, which start at €4.1 if purchased in time. We are increasing the number of connections in the Czech Republic and further to Poland and speeding up connections to Slovakia and Ukraine. With the new evening service at 20:58 from Prague to Ostrava and Krakow, we are responding to passenger demand in a segment that has been under-served in the past. This service is aimed at customers who are used to a high standard of travel and prefer comfort, a guaranteed seat and quality refreshments regardless of the time of day," says Peter Köhler, CEO of the Leo Express Group.
Leo Express will operate an additional pair of connections between Prague and Ostrava. The new night service will depart from Prague at 20:58 and arrive in Ostrava at 0:39. In the opposite direction, there will be a new connection departing from Ostrava at 5:05 and arriving in Prague at 8:27. Leo Express trains will also stop in Ústí nad Orlicí, where they will be followed by regional Leo Express trains serving the Orlicko Ústí region.
In Slovakia, the carrier will add a new stop at Kysak station. The journey from Prague to Košice will be shortened by half an hour thanks to the elimination of the Prešov stop, which is served in the opposite direction. Trains to Krakow, Poland, now run five times a week, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 16:58 and on Fridays and Sundays at 20:58.
Passengers can save money by planning their trip in advance with Leo Express. They can travel between Prague and Ostrava for as little as €4.1. Passengers in the Smile Club loyalty program are also entitled to cashback in the form of leo credits, depending on the loyalty category. In addition to the government-guaranteed 50% discount, students are entitled to an additional 25% cashback in the form of leo credits.
New timetable and winter on-board menu, on average 10% cheaper
In addition to the new timetable, passengers can also look forward to a new on-board menu, which is already available on board Leo Express trains. After three months, the carrier is once again introducing a new refreshment menu that follows trends and reflects the current season.
"New items include new breakfasts, snacks, larger meals and desserts. At the same time, the average price of refreshments is 10% lower than last year. On board, passengers can choose between larger and smaller meals. In winter, a full English breakfast with omelette, beans and sausage or a burrito with shredded beef, rice and cheddar cheese will come in handy. You can also get a bagel or a pastrami sandwich," says Petr Vrabec, catering specialist at Leo Express.
For the second course, customers can choose stuffed chicken breast with potato grenaille, tomato sauce with beef and dumplings, or vegetable balls with gravy sauce and mashed potatoes. Lovers of Asian cuisine will appreciate the gyoza dumplings, fried rice with chicken and the popular sushi set. An exotic novelty is ice cream mochi, a Japanese rice cake flavored with fruit or nuts. For dessert, the strong and intense L'OR coffee is a perfect match, which passengers can order with syrups in salted caramel or gingerbread flavors.
Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan passengers will also enjoy the new additions on board, with Leo Express offering snacks, main meals and desserts that respect their needs and tastes. For example, a gourmet baguette with vegan salami and cheese, tomato soup, chocolate and blackcurrant cup, and a fruit pouch that will delight children. For coffee and plant-based lovers, the carrier has also added oatmeal coffee options.
