The first Leo Express train has departed to Polish Krakow
The first Leo Express train to Krakow departed on 20th of July afternoon from Prague's main railway station, traditionally from platform 1B. At the same time, it became historically the first long-distance private carrier and the only Czech railway company in passenger rail transport on Polish tracks.
The first train ride, which was blessed by the archabbot of the Břevnov monastery, Petr Prokop Siostrzonek, was attended by many important personalities. These include the Polish Commissioner for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Elżbieta Bieńkowska.
Leo Express is as the only Czech carrier certified for the operation of passenger trains in Poland. "We are looking forward to new customers not only from Poland and we believe that the new connection will increase the interest in comfortable ecological train travel, as we have done in the Czech Republic," said Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express today.
In the Czech Republic, it stops on its usual route to Bohumín, in Poland in cities such as Tychy, Katowice, Mysłowice, Zator, Auschwitz and Krakow. “Now we connect Prague and Krakow, but we definitely want to develop more connections in Poland” adds Peter Köhler.
